How I Became Ceridwela
A remarkable family story, a dream, and a name that was never forgotten.
Most names are chosen.
Mine arrived.
Long before I was born, a dream changed the course of my family’s story. It gave me a name that could never appear on my birth certificate, yet has become the name through which I share my work with the world.
This is the story of Ceridwela.
A Dream That Changed Everything
During my mother’s pregnancy, my great-grandmother experienced an extraordinarily vivid dream. In it, the Welsh enchantress Ceridwen appeared before her and spoke a single name with complete certainty. Despite growing up in Central Europe, I was fascinated by my father’s Welsh roots, and the mythology of this magical land.
Why It Was So Extraordinary
My family had never used the name before. Ceridwen herself belongs to Welsh mythology, yet the dream felt deeply personal, as though ancient traditions had crossed generations to become part of our own family history.
The Name That Could Never Be Official
Eager to honour this divine revelation, my great-grandmother shared the name with my parents. However, when they looked to register it officially, the authorities, bound by convention and bureaucracy, denied its use. Nevertheless, the name Ceridwela persisted, becoming my cherished nickname, known to many who understood its significance, and confusing those who didn’t know.
More Than A Name
Today Ceridwela represents much more than a family nickname. It reminds me of where my journey began. It reminds me that stories have power.
That traditions survive because people choose to preserve them.
That sometimes the most meaningful parts of our identity never appear on official documents.
From that moment onward, I carried the legacy of Ceridwen within me, guided by her wisdom and compassion. Though my given name may differ, Ceridwela remains a testament to the connection between our world and the mystical realms, a reminder of the magical heritage that flows through my veins. In my journey through life, I strive to embody the qualities of the legendary goddess, offering healing, guidance, and understanding to all who seek it.
Why I Chose To Share It
When the time came to share my ritual tools and spiritual work, there was only one name that ever felt right.
Ceridwela.
It carries my family history. It honours those who came before me.
It reminds me to approach every creation with the same respect, intention and quiet purpose that first brought the name into my life.
